Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 update
Sam Mobile broke the news that the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) has started to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in Poland, paving the way for an imminent release in the rest of Europe. The best news? If you want to get your hands on the official firmware you can do so now! Just head here and follow the instructions. We still don't know when the update will be hitting the US (it usually follows after Europe thanks to carrier certification hold-ups), but we're nonetheless mighty impressed that a Samsung device has been able get the update, with all the TouchWiz additions, just 31 days after the Lollipop code was officially released (putting even HTC's 90-day Advantage promises to shame).
Sam Mobile had already shown us a test build of Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Galaxy S5, so we knew it was well underway, but getting the update out at this speed is something of an epic move from Samsung, and it may have just won some of its disillusioned fans back.
We updated our Galaxy S5 to Android 5.0 Lollipop and you can see what it looks like below:
Sprint Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update
The folks over at the XDA Developers site have also been hard at work on an unofficial version of the Android 5.0 update for the Sprint Galaxy S5 which is available now. Before you start flashing it with Odin, please keep in mind that there could be a fair amount of bugs that still haven’t been ironed out. Another important thing to consider is that this will wipe all of the data on your phone, so make sure you back up your pictures and files etc before hand. The update is said to have most of the Android 5.0 Lollipop look and feel, however the sensors haven’t been fully tested. If you aren’t keen on giving up your phone warranty, you can wait for Sprint to deliver the update OTA. It shouldn’t be too much longer considering carriers and OEMs are all in a mad race to get the update to phones as soon as possible.
For other Galaxy S5 models
For other Galaxy S5 variants (SM-G900I and SM-G900M - and more soon to follow), head over to the XDA Developers forum where another working version of Android 5.0 Lollipop is also currently in development. It's an early build, but most features are working (NFC and the camera seemingly the only two things which aren't). If you're eager to see what Lollipop will look like when it finally arrives on your device, head over there now and download the ROM.

What about the Android 4.4.4 update for the Galaxy S5?
Samsung’s flagship device, the Galaxy S5, has been receiving the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update in the US for a little while now, firstly on Verizon. Verizon actually brought out a second update only a month after a large patch rolled out to devices on the same network. Sprint has now rolled out the Android 4.4.4 update for the Galaxy S5 over the air. Here's what you can expect from the latest S5 update from your carrier.Galaxy S5 Sprint Android 4.4.4 KitKat update
After leaking last month, the final build of Android 4.4.4 KitKat is now rolling for the Sprint CMDA version of the Galaxy S5. As you know, the Galaxy S5 launched over six months ago with Android 4.4.2 and leapfrogged Android 4.4.3 entirely. While Sprint's support page says the update was released on September 24th there's still a shortage of people verifying that that they have actually received it, so Sprint may simply be trying to rewrite history (rather rather unsuccessfully). Nevertheless, the OTA is on its way, so keep an eye out. The update brings international VoWiFi, security patches, a HD voice icon and the full Android 4.4.4 KitKat suite of goodies.Galaxy S5 Verizon Android updates
The Galaxy S5 update on Verizon has brought a wealth of improvements to the device, such as better music streaming connectivity and some UI changes in Memo and and Emergency Mode. It also updated some of the included software (bloatware) that comes with the device, like Message+ and Cloud. The latest patch seems to be a little less comprehensive, but early reports suggest there has been some minor interface changes to look out for and a bluetooth related fix.Verizon then pushed out yet another update for the Galaxy S5, less than a week after the last, with build number KTU84P.G900VVRU1ANI2. The patch brings some extra tracking features to the S Health app, tweaks to enable VoLTE, and an option to turn off the Galaxy S5 camera shutter sound! If you were yet to download the previous update then it's likely you will jump straight to this latest version.
Galaxy S5 T-Mobile Android 4.4.2 KitKat update
Despite updating its Galaxy S4 variant to Android 4.4.4 recently, the latest KitKat update still hasn't appeared with T-Mobile's S5 device just yet; it still remains on 4.4.2.Galaxy S5 AT&T Android 4.4.2 KitKat update
Like T-Mobile, AT&T users are still sitting on Android 4.4.2, although this carriers S5's did receive some minor updates a while back. Time is running out before units start seeing an official Lollipop release in December, let's hope AT&T can keep up!Are you still keeping up with Galaxy S5 updates?
